The landscape work was completed in 2008, about one year before these photos were
taken. The retail areas tend toward a more traditional ornamental planting palette
while the office planters have a more eclectic and native character.
The very random mix of plants in the office areas is made practical by the use of
text based planting symbols. This technique has dramatically improved the plant layout
accuracy of landscape contractors since this office developed the approach in 2006.

This mixed use Retail / Office project is located on a 13 acre site in Eastern Roseville.
A mix of plants with bold colors and textures highlight the main entries.

Retail buildings are located along most of Sierra College Blvd. and Eureka Road.
The offices provide a buffer for the residential areas along the southern and eastern
edges of the site. Many of the offices have been leased to medical professionals.
The street frontage landscaping along Sierra College Boulevard and Eureka Road is
maintained by the Johnson Ranch East Owner’s Association using a separate maintenance
contractor. The two zones of responsibility are discretely defined by a 2”x 4” headerboard.
