Minimizing Rodent Habitat in Landscape Areas

With any food processor, rodents are a major concern. Ground plane materials were limited to turf and gravel.

The Japanese Maples planted along the wall are more heavily pruned than intended (click here for a well pruned Maple) but still help soften a long blank wall.

This 8 acre rice milling facility is located on Bannock Street. Construction was completed in 2000.

Parking Lot Landscaping in Biggs, California

Architect: Comstock Johnson

General Contractor: Unger Construction Co.

Landscape Contractor: Takehara Landscape, Inc.

An employee parking lot is located across the street from the main building. Shrubs, such as Dwarf Crape Myrtle and Nandina, were chosen for their structure, which suspends foliage above the ground plane and offers no cover to rodents.
